What I look for.Fictional site. Every one of these was a client’s idea.

What I look for

  1. 01214 MB drone video. Still loading.
  2. 02“Welcome” is not a headline
  3. 03Pop-up before they’ve read a word
  4. 04Phone number behind the chatbot
  5. 05One page selling everything

Five things clients ask for that quietly cost them work. Fictional site, real requests.

01 — What I actually do

Eight things. One of them is the point.

Most agencies sell you a package. I’m who you call when the package didn’t work.Hard problems are my thing. The rest is what owners ask me to keep doing once I’ve fixed the one that was costing them.

  1. 01

Fixing the SEO nobody else couldThe bit I’m best at

Traffic fell off a cliff, a rebuild went sideways, or two agencies could not tell you why you do not rank. This is the work I am best at.

When you need itWhen you already paid someone and it did not work

  2. 02

    AI search optimisation

AI tools do not rank sites, they cite sources they trust. I make yours the one ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews quote.

When you need itWhen customers ask an AI before they ask Google

  3. 03

    Technical SEO audits

I take the site apart and hand you a ranked list of what is broken, what it costs you and what to do first. Not a spreadsheet of tick boxes.

When you need itWhen traffic dropped and nobody can tell you why

  4. 04

    E-commerce SEO audits

Hundreds of products, half of them invisible. I find the ones Google cannot crawl and the ones it ignores.

When you need itWhen the catalogue is bigger than the traffic

  5. 05

    Website migrations

A migration plan before you move, not a post-mortem after. Messing this up can cost you a lot of money.

When you need itBefore you change domain, platform or both

  6. 06

    Google Ads

Flat fee, never a percentage of spend, so I have no reason to talk you into a bigger budget.

When you need itWhen you need enquiries this month, not next quarter

  7. 07

    Digital PR

Coverage journalists actually want to run, which brings links worth having. No vanity placements.

When you need itWhen you need authority, not another blog post

  8. 08

    Monthly SEO

Content worth reading plus links worth counting, done in the same hands every month. Deliberately few clients.

When you need itWhen you want it handled and reported honestly

02 — The receipts

Proof, not promises.

Over ten years I’ve seen most of the ways a website can go wrong. Two jobs that show what that’s worth:

Part 4, the tiny screw, is circled as the part that is usually broken. 3401234564 · the tiny screw nobody checksusually where it's brokenSEARCH JAMDRG SJ-001MAGNIFIER — EXPLODED VIEWSCALE 1:1 · DRAWN J.G. · SHEET 1/1

    Case file 01Website migration

10,000 pages. New domain. New CMS. All at once.

A council moved its entire website – ten thousand pages – to a new domain and a new content management system at the same time. Most people would split that into two projects. Doing both at once is like changing all four tyres while you’re still driving.

Every one of those pages needed a new home and a redirect that worked on day one. I mapped it, planned it and saw it through.

When it’s big and it can’t go wrong, plan every URL before anyone presses go.

  2. Towering steel industrial plant with pipes and gantries, in black and white

    Case file 02Small vs big

A small builder, side by side with the big names.

A small building company up against national builders with marketing teams and budgets to match. Trying to out-spend them was never going to work.

So I didn’t. I positioned the business to show up right alongside the big players for the searches that actually win work.

You don’t need the biggest budget. You need the right pages, saying the right things.

Client names kept private, because that’s how I’d want mine kept. Ask me about either and I’ll walk you through it.

03 — How it works

Three steps. One person.

No discovery call with someone who’s never done SEO. No “free audit” that’s really a sales script. Just the person who’ll do the work.

  1. Tell me what’s broken

A few lines on the contact page: the website, and what’s going wrong. Traffic fell off a cliff, a rebuild went sideways, ChatGPT keeps recommending your competitor. No brief, no 40-question form.

    Takes you two minutes

  2. You get a straight answer

I look at what a customer sees, what Google sees and what the AI tools see. Then I tell you what’s actually wrong, what I’d do about it and what it’ll cost. If I’m not the right person, I’ll say so.

You know the price before I start

  3. I fix it

In order of what’s costing you most. You deal with me the whole way, and you get a short note on what I changed and what moved – not a 40-page deck.

    Me, start to finish

04 — The stance

Most agencies tell you what you want to hear.
I’ll tell you what you need to know.

Five sentences the industry says, marked up the way I would mark up your homepage.

Guaranteed page one
Instead:Only Google can promise that, and it does not. I tell you what is realistic and what it will take.
Your dedicated account manager
Instead:You get me. The person who does the work is the person who answers the email.
Monthly reporting deck
Instead:A short note on what I changed, what moved, and what I am doing next. You can read it at the lights.
Content at scale
Instead:Fewer pages, each one written for something a real customer types before they buy.
Quick wins
Instead:I fix the expensive thing first, even when it is the boring one that takes six weeks.

Things I won’t do

  1. 01Promise you page one
  2. 02Give you an account manager
  3. 03Send you a report that says nothing

No smoke and mirrors. No unnecessary jargon. If I think you do not need me, I will say that too.

05 — Who this is for

I’d rather say no early.

I take on a handful of clients at a time. That only works if we are honest about the fit before anyone signs anything.

This is for you if

  • You own the business, and the website is supposed to bring in work.
  • Someone already sold you SEO and you still cannot say what it bought.
  • Traffic dropped or a rebuild went sideways, and nobody can tell you why.
  • Customers ask ChatGPT about businesses like yours, and it never mentions you.

It is not for you if

  • You want page one guaranteed by Friday.
  • You want the cheapest quote in the inbox.
  • You want a monthly deck to forward to the board.
  • You want someone to publish forty AI articles a month and call it strategy.

07 — Start here

Tell me what’s broken.
I’ll tell you what it takes.

Send me the site and a line about the problem. You’ll get what’s wrong, what I’d do and what it would cost. Straight answer either way. If your site’s actually fine, I’ll tell you that too – and save you the money.
